- On-chain maximalist DAOs require autonomous badge distribution based on on-chain criteria - “if its off-chain it didn’t happen”.
- The issuer of the badge is an important source of legitimacy.
- For some DAOs, revocation of badges from members that are off-boarding from the community is important, others don’t want to give the DAO power to revoke badges at all.
- Several DAOs want to build their own community hub UI and display badges there.
- Common perks that DAO operators want to associate with badges: access, governance power, control over smart contracts.
- DAOs want to use the badge system for a wide variety of use cases from gamified community-engagement to roles to governance tokens.

- Provide DAOs with flexibility such that badge revocation and reassignment is an option but not a requirement.
- Enable DAOs to operate Otterspace badges using their own UI.
- Allow for a wide variety of use cases such that DAOs can design their own best solution with the tool we provide.
Usability Key Insights
- Mapping wallet addresses to Discord usernames would make it easier to identify individuals.
- Communities of crypto-experienced folks are already bridged to Optimism, whereas some communities include members who do not even have a wallet yet.
- Switching networks from Mainnet to Optimism was not intuitive for everyone.
- Bulk signing members onto the allowlist is essential for bigger communities.
